An artist rooted in Varanasi

Varanasi has long been a meeting place for art, thought and tradition. It is also the sacred ancient city in which Dr. Reena Singh has studied, taught and developed her artistic vision.

Her journey combines formal training in painting (B.F.A. and M.F.A.), doctoral research on myth and fantasy, solo exhibitions across key cultural centres (New Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur), and continuous participation in national art camps and international residencies.

Her artistic practice sits within a wider conversation about how artists respond to sacred iconography and create modern compositions that invite viewers to reflect and look deeper.

Myth and Fantasy in Modern Indian Painting

Dr. Singh's doctoral thesis provides a critical foundation for her visual practice. Her academic writing explores how modern artists re-interpret mythological allegories, the dynamics between sacred iconography and imaginative abstraction, and the preservation of cultural memory through visual metaphors.
